Good Morning, Bob,
My notes...say that Ambrose Pope Compton "gave" her his 3 childrenfrom a former marriage to take care of. Lucky her! Some of this info wasfrom your grandmother and some from Helen Dietz who was a granddaughterof Helena Trimborn & Conrad Mizer. I notice that my birthdate for AuntKitty is May 13, 1856 while yours says 1858. I'll have to check that out.My info on her death date is 25 Sept. 1912 as Ruth Compton Anderson had.--Priss

From Milwaukee, Wisconsin Directory, 1889-90, Ancestry.com, 11 SEPT 2002:
It looks like Anna Catherine "Kitty" (Trimborn) Salentine may have beenworking for her father-in-law, Mathias Salentine, in 1889-1890:

Mathias Salentine: M. Salentine & Co. r. 594 Walker. Milwaukee WI1889

Marie Salentine clerk r. 313 3d avenue Milwaukee WI 1889

Mathias Salentine: M. Salentine & Co r. 594 Walker. Milwaukee WI1890

Mrs. Katherine Salentine: M. Salentine & Co. r. 313 3d avenueMilwaukee WI 1890
Marie M. Salentine: clerk r. 313 3d avenue Milwaukee WI 1890

I wonder if Marie M. Salentine is Anna Catherine "Kitty" (Trimborn)Salentine's daughter; a daughter, Mary, is listed for Stephen and Kittyon tree submitted to genealogy.com by Joseph E. Donahue of Wilmington,DE. I've written him to see if he can tell me more about the daughter. The information has been incorporated into a file found on Ancestry.comsubmitted by Virginia M. 12. Helen C. Trimborn

Information on H. (Trimborn) Spellman and family taken from informationcontained in scrapbooks of Mrs. Anne C. (Spellman) Leahy (--herdaughter), including her notes on genealogy and obituary clipping.

It is likely that Helen Trimborn met her future husband, James Spellman, while living in Brooklyn Township, Green Lake County, with her family(about 1880-1884). In 1880, there were only about 300 families in thetownship, so there is a good chance they would have met at church/socialevents. The Spellman family lived in Brooklyn Township at this time.

Subject: Re: Emma's pic and other crucial stuff....
...[M]y memories of Great Grandma Helen Trimborn are from the late 40'sor early 50's. The oldest I might have been would have been 5 or 6 yearsold. I remember that she almost always had an embroidery hoop in herhands when she was downstairs.
She used to scare me. She would come into the room so quietly. Thehouse on 1st Ave (in Park Falls, see notes for Justin D. Leahy). had aback stairwell. She would go up the front stairs, telling everyone shewas going to take a nap and, all of a sudden, she would reappear rightbehind me.
She was quite paranoid in thinking that someone was going to takeher things.
I would hear noises in the night, later finding out that she wouldbe using the dumbwaiter to send up a midnight snack to her room. But atthat age, I didn't know what it was.
I remember her being a very small woman. She was quite stern, andused to argue a lot.
She was always dressed very nice.
Mostly I just remember her being "there," and then she wasn't. Tomand I never went to the funeral. I don't even recall if anyone told usthat she died.
I don't remember too much about her, maybe if Tom and I startedkicking around some memories and stories from back then we might remembermore. It's easier when you have two heads!
Hope this helps, Love, Jeanie

From Tom Leahy / October 4, 2002
I was about 4 when Grandma Spellman died so I would expect that Imight have some memories of her before she died but I really don't. I dohowever remember when she died - it was probably my first encounter withdeath. I remember that my parents were going with Grandma and Grandpa toMilwaukee to bury her. It wasn't her death or the idea of burying herthat bothered me though, I remember being very concerned about how theywere all going to fit in the car with Great-Grandma stretched out in theback seat.

From: Jody (Leahy) Filipi / September 28, 2002 9:06 PM
I don't remember Grandma Spellman. I do however remember beingshown a
photograph where she was holding me as an infant. (I think we have thispic. Will see if I can get it copied.)

Thank you for your reply to my querry re Elizabeth Laubenheimer. Sinceher obit was from the Milwaukee, WI area I am 'almost certain' that shewould have been related to the Laubenheimer families in the Wisconsinarea, who were from the Hesse-Darmstadt area of Germany. I have juststarted working on this 'clan' as we have met a Laubenheimer from theChicago, IL area who had relatives settle in Washington County WI in themid to late 1800's.

My husbands' immigrant, Michael Laubenheimer, came from Bellheim Germanyin 1844, LaHarve, France, then to New York, then settled in Pike and RossCounties, Ohio. Just a few years ago we found that his brother LaurenceLaubenheimer came over in 1858 to New Orleans, LA, Navaroo, IL, St.Louis,
MO, then settled in Keeokuk, IA. His farm house still stands on a bluffoverlooking the Mississippi River, according to a descendant we havelocated, who lives in Kansas.

If we locate a connection to the Laubenheimer families, we will certainlynotify you.

Sincerely, Barbara and Glenn Lovensheimer

Anna Catherine Mizer ( b. 10 July 1878; d. 5 Dec. 1962) was married 18Nov. 1902 in Gesu Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin to MATHIAS ALBERT DIETZ(b. 11 July 1869; d. 8 May 1916). Fourteen yrs. before her death (about1948), she was mauled & clawed on the hip by a large black labrador dog.Her hip bone was completely splintered. The doctors were amazed that sheeven lived. Then 2 yrs. later (about 1950), she suffered a stroke and wascompletely paralyzed. Her daughter, Helen, took care of her all of thattime. Helen (b. 11 Aug. 1904; d. 6 Jan. 1996) was the one who told meabout the dog incident. Helen never married.
