Injured in Auto Accident

HURT CRITICALLY IN TWO-CAR CRASH JUST SOUTH OF CITY [Chilton, WI]

Cornelius Leahy, 77, a director of the State Bank of Chilton was one of two persons critically injured in a two-car collision a half-mile south of Chilton on Highway 57 Friday morning [specific date unknown].

Leahy, who lives at 309 N. State St. in Chilton, suffered chest, shoulder, head and hip injuries in the accident which occurred at 8:55 a.m.

Also seriously hurt was Mrs. Sophia Kurdziel, 80, Milwaukee, a passenger, who suffered a skull fracture, hip and chest injuries and cuts. Her husband, Martin Kurdziel, 77, Milwaukee, suffered a cut lip and chest injuries.

According to county police, Leahy was parked on the shoulder of the highway, facing south, and pulled onto the highway in front of the car driven by Kurdziel, which was also heading south.

The injured were taken to Calumet Memorial Hospital [Chilton] by Pfeffer's ambulance.

2 CRITICALLY HURT IN CRASH NEAR CHILTON

Chilton--Two persons were listed in critical condition at Calumet Memorial Hospital today [date unknown] as a result of a two-car crash just south of the city Friday. Another person was less seriously injured.

Calumet police reported that cars driven by Martin Kurdziel, 77, Milwaukee, and Cornelius J. Leahy, 76, Chilton, were involved in the crash which occurred on Highway 57 about four-tenths of a mile south of the city limits.

Mr. Kurdziel's wife, Sophia, 80, a passenger in the car, sustained a skull fracture, broken hip, chest injuries, and lacerations. Mr. Leahy suffered chest, shoulder and head injuries and is in shock. Both are in critical condition.

Mr. Kurdziel suffered lacerations and a leg injury. All were taken to the hospital in the Pfeffer ambulance.
