David Leahy

1845-1936

David Leahy, 91, passed away Friday morning, Apr. 23 [1936], at 9 o'clock at the John Leahy home , where he had resided for the last 67 years. He had been confined to his bed for more than a year.

Mr. Leahy was born 27 June, 1845, at Watergrass Hill, Ireland, and at the age of two came with his parents to the United States and resided at Providence, R. I. Seven years before they came to Wisconsin and located at Random Lake in Sheboygan county. When he was 24 years old, David Leahy came to Chilton and located on the Leahy farm in the town of Chilton and acquired a farm adjoining that of his brother's.

He is survived by one brother, James Leahy of Port Washington[, WI]; one niece, Margaret Leahy, Chilton; and five nephews, David and Cornelius Leahy, Chilton; Dr. J. D. Leahy, Park Falls; James Leahy, Milwaukee;; and Dr. Paul Leahy, Port Washington.

The funeral was held from the Pfeffer Funeral Home Monday [26 APR] morning to St. Augustine church, where the Rev. F. M. McKeogh officiated at the requiem high mass. Burial was in St. Augustine cemetery. Mr. Leahy was a member of the Holy Name society.

Mr. Leahy passed away while the members of the family were attending the funeral of Mrs. John Leahy being held at St. Augustine church Friday morning. John Short, Cornelius and Gust McCole, Henry Roach, Thomas Joyce and William Raleigh acted as pallbearers doe both Mrs. John Leahy and David Leahy.

Friends and relatives from away who attended the funerals were: Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Doyle, Little Chute[, WI]; Edward Doyle, Wrightstown[, WI]; Mr. And Mrs. P. H. Cain and sons, John and Harold, and daughter, Lois, Elkhart Lake[, WI]; Mrs. A. G. McCarthy and daughter, Madeline, Mrs. Jas. McCarthy and daughter, Rosemary, Mrs. Thos. Foster, daughter, Marion, and son, Adrian, Mr. And Mrs. Harold Fisher and daughter, Jean, all of Milwaukee; James Leahy and son, Dr. Paul Leahy of Port Washington; James and Mary Doyle of Rice Lake; and Mrs. James Doyle of Menasha[, WI].
