According to OUR JONES FAMILY, Tolliver M. served with the Lafayette Guards, Com pany 1, 27 AL Reg. Volunteers
Paul Fincannon has been unable to find any records verifying the family story th at Tolliver Jones served as a general in the Confederacy during the Civil War.
Tolliver married Lucy A. (UNKNOWN) 1.

chart prepared by J. H. Pendergrass puts his birth in 1835, but a note on the pa ge says he was 17 in 1850, so date of birth moved back at least two years; E. P . Gibbons puts his birth in 1832.
Uncle Dick (Bernice Overstreet Jones) says there were three young girls who die d quite young; names for two are known: Lucy and Cumi; a name for the third is n ot. Aunt Christine Jones Pendleton says there were just the two named girls wh o died young.

from E P Gibbons file: Mace Jones moved to Upshur Co, TX in 1859; he enlisted i n Co D, Waller's Co, Hopp's Reg. and wounded in thigh by mini ball (breaking th e bone)--doctor wanted to cut off his leg, but Mace Jones refused; he recuped wi th in the home of an unnamed family. He was in Shrevesport when war ended; he r eturned to Upshur Co, married, and then went to Comanche Co, TX. In 1875, he so ld the land there and moved to Erath Co.
Mason married 2 Mary Henrietta CROWDER 1, daughter of Overstreet W. CROWDER and Rachel BIRD, in @1864, Upshur County, TX. Mary was born 3 24 Aug 1846 in Troup County, GA. She died 4 18 Aug 1920 in Lingleville, Erath County, TX and was buried 5 21 Aug 1920 in Beth Haven, Bays, Erath County, TX.

Lucy was disabled, and she may have been retarded. There is a note in Rita Finc annon Dickinson's materials that suggest a special chair was built for Lucy tha t Pearle Jones always wanted.
